After the humiliation they suffered in the ODI tri-series, India will look to make amends and take revenge against giant-slayers Zimbabwe in the first Twenty20 International here on Saturday. Here with a second-string team, India were dumped out of the just-concluded tri-series after suffering back-to-back defeats against the spirited Zimbabweans.
The host team, which lost the tri-series final to Sri Lanka, would be plotting another shocker for the Indians on Sunday. The break that followed their tri-series ouster has given Suresh Raina’s men enough time to chalk out their plans to avoid another stunner from Elton Chigumbura’s fighting side. The key to India’s success is batting and the line-up is desperately missing the heavyweights, who were rested from the series.

West Indies vs South Africa, 1st Test Match, Sabina Park, Kingston, On Jun 10, 2010 from 15:00 GMT | 20:30 IST Onwards

South Africa have every reason to start their three-Test series with West Indies on Thursday at Queen’s Park Oval in a confident mood. The South Africans swept the preceding limited-overs matches, comprising two Twenty20 and five One-day Internationals.
Though the visitors would concede that Tests are far different, they enter the series with the confidence of returning to the winning habit, and the full knowledge that their opponents appear to be in disarray. But the Proteas’ vice-captain Jacques Kallis was still cautious about a West Indies side, which is quite unpredictable. “This is a very different form of the game, and in many ways this is a fresh start to the tour,” he said.

Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka, Final ODI Match Harare Sports Club, Harare, On Jun 9, 2010 from 07:30 GMT | 13:00 IST Onwards

Giant-killer Zimbabwe will hope to cap their fairytale campaign with yet another stunning display while revenge will be high on Sri Lanka’s agenda in the final of the cricket tri-series on Wednesday. Even though both India and Sri Lanka sent second-string squads for the low-profile tournament, few expected Zimbabwe to emerge as the table-topper with 13 points in their kitty.
The minnows twice beat India and both were comprehensive victories. As if to prove it was no fluke, they thumped Sri Lanka in Monday’s dead rubber as well to finish their league campaign with three victories from four outings. Key to their fortune has been Brendan Taylor’s sensational form that has already earned the opener three Man of the Match awards.

Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka, 6th ODI Match Harare Sports Club, Harare, On Jun 6, 2010 from 07:30 GMT | 13:00 IST Onwards

Sri Lanka will play hosts Zimbabwe at Harare in the last league game of the Zimbabwe tri-series. As both these teams are already in the final therefore this game between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe is an inconsequential game, or a dress rehearsal for the final, that will be contested between the same two sides, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The result of the match is only of academic interest though a win for any of the side would come as a psychological boost ahead of the final.
After the rather inconsistent show early on, the Lankan line-up finally struck form on Saturday and Dinesh Chandimal struck a fluent hundred to make his presence felt. The skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chamara Kapugedera are also now in good knick.

With their chances of making the final hanging by a thread, a beleaguered India will have to win and win it big when they take on Sri Lanka in a do-or-die match in the cricket tri-series here on Saturday.
Smarting from the ignominy of being beaten twice by Zimbabwe in the tournamenttheir first back-to-back defeats against the traditional minnows Suresh Raina and his teammates have their back against the wall with the prospect of an early exit looming large.
Given the scenario, India, who currently have just four points from just one win, have to beat the Lankans on Saturday with a bonus point and hope that the outcome of Monday’s Zimbabwe-Sri Lanka match also goes their way. win and a bonus point will take India’s tally to nine points, level with Zimbabwe. Raina and his men would then hope that Zimbabwe spring another surprise and upstage the Lankans, who have five points, in the final league encounter.

England face a trial by spin in Friday’s second test at Old Trafford after Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons said he felt a couple of their batsmen including Kevin Pietersen were vulnerable. Pietersen, England’s best batsman, has been dismissed 16 times by left-arm spinners in just over two years.
He will need to be braced for an extra challenge afer Siddons told a news conference on Thursday that left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak could replace a pace bowler. The Old Trafford pitch favours the slower bowlers and left-arm spinner Monty Panesar bowled England to victory against New Zealand in the last test on the ground two years ago.

West Indies vs South Africa, 4th ODI Match, Windsor Park, Roseau, On May 30, 2010 from 13:00 GMT | 18:30 IST Onwards

The fourth ODI between West Indies and South Africa will be played at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica. South Africa leads the series 3-0 and already win the series. West Indies, on the other hand, need to get going with a win under their belt, after having lost two successive T20is and now, the three ODIs.
West Indies managed to shoot themselves in the foot by electing to field first in the first ODI. It was evident that their bowling struggled in the first innings, and this was followed by the second ODI in which the side lost the toss and were again, grinded to the ground as South Africa got to 300.
The West Indian side will need to now, come what may, bat first if they win the toss and this is despite the fact that the game is a day game at Dominica. West Indies will also need to ensure that once they win the toss and elect to bat first in this game, they end up batting as well as they did in the second ODI. Of course, they were assisted by a whirlwind of an innings by Darren Sammy, but what is now required by the hosts is for the top-order to get going.
